AP Gives Bush Devil Horns?

I most definitely believe that there is a strong liberal bias in most of the major media, with Reuters and the AP really being no different than the television sources. On the other hand, I feel that many conservative bloggers will sometimes go a bit far when trying to make an established media outlet look bad.

Case in point, the following photograph from the Associated Press which is making its rounds on the web and being criticized along the way:

Bush with Devil Horns?

Yes, there is a slight resemblance to devil horns in the picture, but I think it is really a stretch to say that the photographer did so on purpose. In fact, I’m not sure that anyone would even notice unless they were specifically looking for it. It’s just the presidential seal that happens to be above his head in a strange position. To read any further into it would be pointless and would draw unnecessary conclusions.

Don’t get me wrong on this one, I’m as happy as anyone to see the liberal media proven wrong or debunked, but I worry that such frivolous accusations as this one can only hurt the reputation of those who make them. At the same time, I praise those who do take the time and go out on a limb with their ideas and discoveries. Take, for example, the discovery of the doctored Reuters photos back in July. That was a truly amazing example of the blogosphere’s investigative powers. This on the other hand, is nonsense. My advice to other bloggers: don’t read too deeply into a photo or story in the hopes of getting a big scoop: sometimes a shadow is just a shadow.

    True, very true.

Wow, devil and angel in one picture? Imagine how that could be read into.
